Bio: April Charity was raised just outside New York City, and grew up primarily under the care of her mother. Her father, a mechanic, was a nice enough parent, but as for manager of a household, his methods were disastrous. He was a frequent gambler and thus lost the family a lot of money, causing Mrs. Charity to kick him out of the house for good.

Mr. Charity’s shadow still hovered over the household. His wife became increasingly possessive of her own money, to the point where she entered a state of mind not unlike those suffering with anorexia: she always felt like she never had enough money, that if she didn’t get more this instant then she would hit rock bottom and become poor. Thus, being a locksmith herself, it wasn’t too hard to take up thieving. Shortly after, she coaxed April along, forcing her into being her partner in crime.

The paranoid state of her mother affected how April saw the world, and soon enough, she was going out on her own crime excursions. Through this, she met brothers Stephan and Duncan, and they became their own thiefly trio. That is, until one night, when Stephan and Duncan were arrested, with April narrowly escaping. She has immense guilt over that to this day, as she essentially turned her back on her only friends. She hasn’t seen them since.

In the meantime, she took up her father’s interests in mechanics and engineering. She began tinkering with electronics, taking them apart and putting them back together in new ways. Though none of her inventions have quite caught on, she still creates more and more. Some have become quite handy for her heists.

Nowadays she’s made her way to Fort North, where she continues her criminal shenanigans under the name of “Ms. Charity,” simultaneously being ironic and self-referential. She joined a computer company, getting a menial cubicle job, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t hacking the server when no one’s watching. Plus, when looking out the window one day, she happened to see a fight between Noir and Hurricane, and snuck out, culminating in her seeing Hurricane’s true identity. She’s been bothering him ever since, threatening to reveal his real name if he were to arrest her.

When she isn’t stealing anything, though, she proves to be her own force to be reckoned with, with some of her wackier inventions coming in handy for certain fights. She’s also annoyingly agile, and good at making a quick escape. Though, deep down, she harbors the same fears as her mother once did. How much money is enough? Until she figures that out, her life of crime continues.

Character History: April was a character made for my RPG idea, Apocrypha Seven. Her design was based off Mint from the DS game Contact, which also heavily influenced Apc7’s plot in general. She’s bounced around canons ever since, but she’s always had the same personality, the love for the color yellow, and the distinct hair curl.

Personally, April is one of my favorite characters. Normally I’m not so fond of my girl characters for whatever reason (probably why I have so many more guys, too), but April was one of the first female characters of mine I really loved. She was also one of the first thief characters of mine I really loved.

I love rogue characters, yes, and I have quite a few, but none of them stuck out like April. I believe it’s because April never stops being a thief as far as canon goes. All my other ones used to be thieves, or are thieves, and reform by the end, or just…don’t really pull off the criminal thing well enough. But not April. She’s a character that’s good because she doesn’t get as much development, somehow. So here’s hoping to further appearances by her throughout new stories!

Next week: ???
