Shortly after Zack's 13th birthday, Mr. Nichols became a little restless. He's noticed that, operation after operation, his son's condition seemed to be getting worse. Nothing was working, in his eyes: money was simply being wasted, and his son was dying.
Mr. Nichols had his fair share of medical problems, as well. He was bipolar and a recovering alcoholic. A few days later, he decided to take matters into his own hands, and called Zachary into a room with him.
Where he decided to put his son out of his misery, and kill himself right after.
However...
The experiments did affect Zack. Perhaps he wasn't invincible to the disease, but he had a huge pain tolerance, and could survive killing blows. Such as shots to the head. His mother overheard the noise, and, well...
Don't blame Zack here, though. He can't help how he looks! Spooked at what was happening, he made a mad dash out of the hospital, kicking and screaming at any opposition in his way.
Hiding from the public, he was discovered by a crime boss named Crawford. Through his head injuries, Zack's personality was completely turned around, making him aggressive, moody, and erratic.
His eyes are starting to fail him, too. Better try to fix that.
